MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is an extra layer of security on top of your password. After your username and password, you also enter a temporary 6-digit code that appears on your smartphone in an authenticator app. This reduces the risk of someone else logging into your account.
You can activate MFA in two ways:
1. Self-activate via “My account”
Log in to the tool.
Click top right on your company name.
Select Manage my account.
(Re)activate MFA
2. An admin sets up MFA for you
An administrator can activate this for you via: Settings → Users → (⋮) three dots next to your user → Set up Multi-Factor Authentication.
Note: the admin can enable this, but you must then still set it up yourself on your next login.
When MFA is activated, you will see a screen on your next login (after entering your username and password) to set up MFA. It may be not immediately visible right after activation if you log back in straight away—this can take a few minutes. When you need to set up MFA during login, follow these steps:
Install (if you don’t have one yet) an authenticator app on your smartphone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy or FreeOTP.
Open the app and add an account via Scan QR code.
Scan the QR code shown on the screen. (If this doesn’t work, click “Can’t scan?” and follow the manual method.)
The app will now show a 6-digit code. Enter it in “Authentication code (code in your authenticator app)”.
(Optional but recommended) Enter a Device name, e.g. “iPhone Jan”.
Click Submit to confirm.
From then on, at every next login—after your username and password—you will also need to enter the code from your authenticator app.
